Employment

Often individuals ask when is there opening at the Seward Police Department or am I qualified to become a law enforcement officer. The following information should assist you with your questions.

The Seward Police Department hires police officers via a Civil Service process and an eligibility list is created by our Civil Service Commission. The Commission advertises when it is in the process of creating a new eligibility list. There is no specific time of the year when the eligibility list is created.

When there is a need for a new eligibility list, the City of Seward advertises in our local news paper the Seward County Independent as well as Lincoln and Omaha newspapers. We also advertise at the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center web site www.nletc.state.ne.us within the Job Listing tab.

To become a Seward police you must be or become a Nebraska certified law enforcement officer. The Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center web site www.nletc.state.ne.us provides current certification standards. This is where you can examine the requirements to become a law enforcement officer.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Seward Police Officer and please apply with us when we are creating our eligibility list. If you have any additional questions please contact me.
