The Seward Police Department has 11 sworn officers and 2 civilian employees. We have very modern equipment, highly trained employees and are very active in community policing efforts. Some of these efforts include bike patrol, crime prevention and educational programs such as D.A.R.E. as well as many other activities to maintain and increase the high quality of life in Seward. We provide 24 hour coverage with over 6 square miles of City population, which is estimated at over 6,900 and growing. An inter-local agreement allows up to 25 square miles of potential enforcement efforts and calls for service. With five marked police vehicles and one four-wheel drive pick-up we handle approximately 3,500 to 4,000 calls for service annually.
